Abstract

In July 2021, Jember Regency experienced deflation of 0.05 percent with a consumer price index (CPI) of 106.41 percent. Of the eight CPI cities in East Java, six cities experienced inflation, and two cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Sumenep Regency at 0.42 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in Malang and Madiun at 0.11 percent respectively. Meanwhile, the city experiencing the highest deflation occurred in Kediri City at 0.08 percent and the lowest deflation occurred in Jember Regency at 0.05 percent. East Java experienced inflation of 0.17 percent.

The commodities that contributed the most to inflation in July 2021 were cayenne pepper, tomatoes, preserved skipjack tuna, cooking oil, toothpaste, shallots, washing machines, beef, shampoo, and lined notebooks. Meanwhile, the commodities that contributed the most to the occurrence of deflation were purebred chicken meat, gold jewelry, broiler eggs, pears, salak, liquid soap/dishwashing, apples, wet prawns, red chilies, and mustard greens.
