Abstract

In July 2020, Jember Regency experienced inflation of 0.01 percent with the consumer price index (CPI) of 104.77 percent. Of the eight CPI cities in East Java four cities experienced inflation and four cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Probolinggo City by 0.16 percent, the lowest inflation occurred in Banyuwangi Regency and Jember Regency by 0.01 percent while the largest inflation occurred in Surabaya City by 0.41 percent. East Java deflation of 0.29 percent.

Of the eleven expenditure groups, five expenditure groups experienced inflation, three expenditure groups experienced deflation, and the rest were stable. The expenditure group that experienced the highest inflation was the Personal Care and Other Services group by 1.48 percent and the group that experienced the lowest inflation was the Health group by 0.01 percent; while the expenditure group that experienced the biggest deflation was the Transportation group by 0.83 percent and the group that experienced the lowest deflation was the Recreation, Sports and Culture group by 0.16 percent.

The commodities that contributed the most to inflation were jewelery gold, chicken eggs, high school rates, children's shoes and elementary school fees. While the commodities that contributed the most to the occurrence of air transport rates, chicken meat, onions, garlic and bottled water.
